Abhishek Menon

President

Mr. Abhishek Menon is the President of the Association of Indo-Canadians in Fredericton for the 2025–2027 term. He is a licensed real estate salesperson and professional REALTOR® with RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty in Fredericton. In addition to his real estate career, Abhishek is an active software and mobile application developer. He is the founder and developer of iHomeMap, a utility app that utilizes LiDAR technology to scan rooms and generate floor plans. He also created iFlowRead, a productivity application featuring a teleprompter, voice scrolling, and eye-tracking capabilities. Abhishek is deeply committed to community building and fostering multicultural connection in New Brunswick. Under his leadership, the Association of Indo-Canadians aims to enhance integration and support systems for newcomers. He leverages his professional and technological skills to streamline community operations and communication. Abhishek works closely with local organizations to create welcoming networks for new families. He continues to reside and work in Fredericton, balancing professional success with active community service.

CA Varsha Ashar serves as the Secretary of the Association of Indo-Canadians in Fredericton for the 2025–2027 term. She is a highly qualified finance professional with a background as a Chartered Accountant and CS Executive. Varsha holds a Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree specializing in Accounts and Finance. She brings extensive expertise in financial management, governance, and compliance to the executive board. In her role as Secretary, she coordinates key administrative functions and supports ICAF's strategic goals. She is dedicated to strengthening community support systems for Indo-Canadians in New Brunswick. Varsha works to organize community outreach programs and cultural events that celebrate heritage. She acts as a key point of contact for members seeking assistance with local settlement resources. Her professional background helps the association implement robust organizational and budgeting practices. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all newcomers in Fredericton.

Harmeet Kaur is the Social Secretary of the Indo-Canadian community in Fredericton for the 2025–2027 term. She is dedicated to organizing community gatherings and cultural celebrations that bring people together. In her role, Harmeet oversees the planning and execution of major events like Diwali, Holi, and Independence Day. She collaborates with local volunteers and coordinators to design inclusive, family-friendly programming. Harmeet is passionate about preserving and sharing India's rich cultural traditions within New Brunswick. She works to build strong relationships between the Indo-Canadian association and other cultural groups. Her efforts focus on creating a vibrant, welcoming space for both newcomers and long-term residents. She plays a key role in managing event logistics, decorations, and community outreach. Harmeet is committed to promoting diversity and cross-cultural understanding in the Fredericton area. Her enthusiastic leadership helps maintain high engagement and volunteer participation in community events.

Uthira Kumar Ponnusamy serves as the Vice President of the Association of Indo-Canadians in Fredericton. He is elected for the 2025–2027 term and works closely with the President to guide the board's vision. Uthira is a dedicated advocate for the Indo-Canadian community, focusing on settlement support. He plays an active role in planning and executing strategic initiatives for the organization. Uthira works to connect newcomers with essential local resources to ease their transition to Canada. He helps organize cultural festivals and workshops that foster community pride and engagement. He is committed to promoting inclusivity, accountability, and strong governance within the association. Uthira collaborates with local partners and municipal agencies on community development projects. He is passionate about mentoring youth and encouraging active volunteerism among members. His collaborative approach helps strengthen the social fabric of the Indo-Canadian community in Fredericton.

Banwarilal Gupta serves as the Second Vice President of the Association of Indo-Canadians in Fredericton. He is currently a Mill Finance Controller and Manufacturing Finance Leader at AV Group NB, Inc. Banwarilal is based in Nackawic, New Brunswick, where he manages mill operations and corporate finance. He has a rich professional history with the Aditya Birla Group, holding various senior financial roles. His corporate experience includes department head roles in finance, accounts, and group corporate finance. On the executive board, he leverages his strong financial background to oversee budgeting and fiscal planning. Banwarilal is passionate about community service and helping families settle in New Brunswick. He supports the organization's fundraising initiatives and corporate sponsorship outreach. He works to ensure the association remains financially sustainable and accountable to its members. He is committed to promoting cultural heritage and building bridges in the local community.

Manisha Verma

Manisha Varma is a dedicated community leader, educator, and advocate based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She serves as a Board Director for the Association of Indo-Canadians and is the Secretary of the Multicultural Association of Fredericton (MCAF). Manisha has over 15 years of experience advancing social impact, multicultural engagement, and newcomer settlement. She served as President of the Indo-Canadian Association of Fredericton from 2018 to 2022, expanding membership by 40%. Professionally, she has worked as an Educational Assistant at the Anglophone West School District since 2015. She was a candidate for the Fredericton City Council in 2026, campaigning on housing, integration, and student well-being. Manisha actively collaborates with student unions at UNB and NBCC to assist students with housing and visa challenges. She serves as a key liaison with the Consulate General of India to support students and families in emergencies. Her outstanding community work earned her the Canada 150 Community Leadership Award in 2017. She holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from South Gujarat University in India.

Mathuresh Singh

Dr. Mathuresh Singh serves as a Board Director for the Association of Indo-Canadians in Fredericton. He is a highly respected plant pathologist and researcher who has made significant contributions to agriculture. Dr. Singh served as the Managing Director of Agricultural Certification Services (ACS) Inc. in Fredericton since 1996. He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. He is an Adjunct/Assistant Professor at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), collaborating on research. His scientific expertise is focused on potato pathology, disease management, and crop certification standards. He has published numerous scientific papers and frequently speaks at national agricultural conferences. On the ICAF board, he brings senior leadership experience and academic prestige to community initiatives. Dr. Singh is committed to supporting educational programs and mentoring youth within the community. He actively participates in cultural preservation efforts and guides newcomers in their academic pursuits.

Dr. Rakesh Mishra

Dr. Rakesh Mishra is a Board Director for the Association of Indo-Canadians in Fredericton. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Dr. Mishra is a recognized expert in AI, remote sensing, computer vision, and satellite data analytics. He serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SceneSharp Technologies Inc. in Fredericton. He is also the Head of Research for Remote Sensing and AI at the Northern Hardwoods Research Institute. His research specializes in multi-sensor data fusion and machine learning algorithms for environmental monitoring. Rakesh has led key projects involving wildfire intelligence and precision forest inventories using LiDAR data. On the ICAF board, he actively advocates for advancing AI and technology initiatives within the community. He is dedicated to mentoring students and professionals in STEM fields in New Brunswick. Dr. Mishra helps organize community events and supports newcomer integration through professional networking.

Dr Ram Prakash Galwa

Dr. Ram Prakash Galwa is the Past President and a current board member of the Association of Indo-Canadians. He is a prominent physician specializing in radiology at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Dr. Galwa serves as the Clinical Department Head of Medical Imaging for the Fredericton Area under Horizon Health. He holds a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment in Radiology at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is also a community faculty member in diagnostic radiology at Dalhousie University. Dr. Galwa earned his MBBS in Jaipur and completed his MD in Radiodiagnosis in Chandigarh, India. He completed advanced fellowships in abdominal imaging and interventional radiology at the University of Ottawa. During his presidential term, he led the association with distinction, strengthening community relations. He is a strong supporter of newcomer integration and healthcare advocacy within the local community. Dr. Galwa continues to provide guidance to the executive board while serving the healthcare needs of New Brunswickers.
